the first thing you’ll notice about bon boutique is how exceedingly charming everything about it is. from the uniquely creative and stunning styling and photography, to, of course, the well-curated product collection. i think i first discovered bon boutique through their instagram feed (also, cue ‘charming’!) @bontucson — and as you may have guessed from their profile name, they are indeed located in tucson, arizona, but if you didn’t know any better, you might think paris, ouí? bon is a home, garden and clothing store with some very parisian flair — carrying everything from adorable Polkadot Scarves to moroccan woven hats and some amazing textiles and homewares, too. Bon is brought to us by mother-daughter team, Bonnie and Crystal Flynt who share a love of things that are well designed and well made. an eclectic mix of new and old, rough and refined, dark and colorful, east and west, fun and serious — the beauty is in the way it’s all put together. have a look and just try not to fall in love with all of it.

if you’re into the urban jungle movement or just longing to have more greenery in your home, have i got a new book for you! Plant and interior stylist hilton carter’s Wild Interiors: Beautiful plants in beautiful spaces brings his unique eye and love of plants to show you how to create luscious green interiors that not only look amazing but are good for your well-being, too — and we could all use a little more of that. Hilton’s book guides you through his own plant journey?and also shares his top ten favorite house plants. He then showcases the homes of twelve inspiring homes that demonstrate the versatility of decorating with plants — from a tiny house in Venice, California and a light-filled loft in New York City, to a Berlin apartment decorated with vintage finds, and the Barcelona home of a ceramic artist, there are ideas for all types of spaces and budgets. Wild Interiors takes you room by room, showcasing the plants that are most suited to each: those that thrive in the tropical humidity of bathrooms, the erratic heat changes of kitchens, and plants that can live happily in the indirect light of an entryway or bedroom. for more inspiration, follow hilton on instagram and check out his website & online shop. oh — and he also has an airbnb experience so you can learn how to propagate plants from him directly! time to get wild!

we could all use a long soak.

there’s something just so soothing about a long soak in the tub — especially these days. vintage clawfoot tubs take bubble baths to a whole new level, and hardwood and rustic stone floors always look smashing. as you can see from this roundup of bathrooms, it doesn’t take a lot to create the look — if you’ve got the vintage tub you’re a step ahead of the game, but simply add some Moroccan bath towels, some vintage paintings, mirrors, and lighting and you’re well on your way to having a romantic bathroom of your own. it’s all in the details — i love the idea of sea fans, coral and a palm frond or two. brass fixtures add a nice touch too. okay, now that we know what we’re doing, let’s have a soak, shall we?

we’ve made it through yet another week of 2020, much of it painful, but some of it uplifting especially when we see positive changes resulting from the public outcry, and yet we’re still figuring out how to adjust to living with corona. it’s been a lot! i’m hunkering down at home still and seeking out good design to share with you in a lot of new places and for me, that’s been really inspiring. this week’s friday finds are pretty eclectic, and i seem to be very into oversized lighting! i hope you like them as much as i do. have a restful weekend, one and all.

xo, victoria

  1. this insanely cool dining room table base is just one of the inspiring eclectic pieces in this fabulous barcelona home tour. i’m sure it must be custom, but i love how it mimics the mirror behind it. and that canary yellow tabletop is just dreamy!
  2. @mrjasongrant is one of my favorite stylists from down under, and i’ve been influenced by his talent an awful lot in my own laguna beach cottage. his dining table with its oversized paper lantern in army green from hk living paired with that Oversized resin clamshell are giving me all new ideas and inspiration.
  3. this beautiful bohemian room is what i like to call celebratory decay — sometimes it’s a good idea to leave aged walls as is, especially in this case. then layer up the room with vintage rugs, rich textiles and pillows and add a giant paper lantern (can you tell i have a big crush on those?) and boom! i love it all.
  4. i love the look of this rather french chinoiserie wallpapered bar and hi-fi station tucked into an unassuming ‘secret’ closet. it’s such a perfectly unexpected pairing of mid-century modern and a décor style inspired by the traditional art and culture of China, Japan, and other Asian countries.
  5. this ornate bedroom in an italian villa in sicily is the kind of place i saw all over palermo on my last trip there and was lucky enough to spend a few nights in one (and quite inexpensively, i might add). i could definitely stay in this incredible room — i love how the bed is centered in the room, and that chandelier – wow!
  6. how about this plant-filled living room, complete with an oversized disco ball? i love how they’ve built terraced garden shelving right into and above the fireplace mantel — such a brilliant idea for a defunct non-working fireplace.
  7. that crazy-talented interior designer leanne ford can do no wrong in my book, and this fabulous dining room is a prime example of her skills. i love the unusual pairing of those mid-century modern cherner chairs around an antique queen anne legged table (painted her signature white, of course).
  8. i love this very serene dining space featured in architectural digest’s summer issue. the colors, the floors, and all the glass and mirrors give it such a light, lovely feeling. it’s the milan home of @tamumcpherson, founder of all the pretty birds, an inspiring fashion, wellness, culture, and beauty site you might like to check out.

true story: today we’re headed to toronto, canada. well, at least we will be when things open back up and we can support these small businesses again. today’s wear this there we’re headed to true true a pizza parlor extraordinaire. this isn’t your typical red-checked tablecloth themed pizza joint, it’s much more pastel to be exact. true true believes in mastering the fundamentals of traditional pizza making and then taking it to the next level with locally-sourced ingredients, prepared fresh in-house daily with their signature dough and then hand-stretching your pizza to order. yum. who’s craving a slice right about now? we’re going casual today in our favorite jeans and hi-top sneakers paired with a very feminine pink flouncy top, straw summer hat and chicest reading glasses. while waiting on your pizza, i suggest reading on beauty by zadie smith — an oldie but goodie bestseller about an interracial family living in the university town of Wellington, Massachusetts, whose misadventures in the culture wars serve to skewer everything from family life to political correctness with dead-on wit and relentlessly funny plot twists.
